Office Administrator

Damaris Vazquez was born and raised in Lares, Puerto Rico. She graduated from Seminole State College with an AA Degree in Legal Studies. From there, she continued her schooling at Troy University under their Criminal Justice program. Prior to working at Angel Law Firm, she worked as a paralegal in personal injury and immigration law for 2 other Orlando-based law firms where she worked as part of the litigation team as well as the administrative team, respectively.

She has been a part of Angel Law Firm since its inception in 2013 when she began working as an assistant and paralegal in the areas of personal injury, immigration, criminal law, and bankruptcy. Over the years, she was an integral part of setting up many of the ongoing processes currently being used in the office from case management and IT work to administrative mandates. Due to her dedication and consistent effort, as well as a passion for making the work more efficient for her team and clients, she was promoted to office manager and has been in this role for over 8 years.

Although she wears many hats as part of her administrative and HR duties in the office, the most rewarding part of her work is doing client-based work, often assisting with client intakes as well as case closings. Damaris is fully bilingual in English and Spanish.On her personal time, Damaris enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 daughters and loves reading, crafts, and Broadway shows with her oldest child.

Angel M. Mercado

Founding Attorney

Angel M. Mercado was born in Queens, NY, where he lived his younger years before moving to Puerto Rico with his family. He completed all his undergraduate studies in Lares, Puerto Rico, and after graduating high school, he moved to San Juan where he earned his bachelor’s degree in communications in 1990 and his master’s degree in public relations from Universidad del Sagrado Corazon in 1994. He was one the first 50 professionals to obtain a master’s degree in public relations in the Caribbean.

In 1995, he moved to Florida where he gained more experience in marketing, he decided to start his own marketing firm dedicated to Personal Injury services. While working with a well-respected doctor’s office in Orlando, he was invited to join his team. Following on his passion of working with people in the personal injury field, Mr. Mercado enrolled at Florida A&M University College of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 2009. Attorney Mercado practices law in Florida and the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida. His focus is in the areas of personal injury and immigration law.

His commitment is to make sure that each client receives the most personalized treatment his office can provide, so they feel confident in their legal representation. His main goal is to make sure that every client gets the representation they need and the compensation they rightfully deserve.

Elizabeth V. Roeckell

Partner Attorney

Elizabeth V. Roeckell was born and raised in New York. She attained her Bachelor of Arts at Colgate University in 1987 where she majored in Political Science and minored in Education. Her exposure to Political Science led her to pursue law, graduating with her Juris Doctor in 1991 from Western New England University School of Law. Elizabeth is fluent in Spanish and English, and proficient in Italian.

She initiated her career as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County, where she tried many cases and became a Supervisor in the Grand Jury Bureau. Subsequently, she moved into private practice working in several major law firms in New York City and Westchester County. She tried many personal injury cases ranging from automobile accidents to products liability. Elizabeth eventually opened her own practice in New York practicing criminal defense, personal injury, and family law.Her experience and exposure to different areas of the law led her to become interested in immigration law.

After many years practicing law in New York, Elizabeth made a move to Florida. At Angel Law Firm, PL, Elizabeth is in charge of immigration matters, from consultations and file preparations to all court, ICE, and USCIS appearances. She leads her staff through her experience in the preparation of asylum applications, naturalization applications, request for evidence responses, adjustment of status, and motion practice. Elizabeth’s true passion is trying cases and being in court. She feels fortunate to be able to represent her clients in all sorts of immigration cases and is truly humbled when she can assist her clients and obtain the benefit being sought.

Elizabeth enjoys getting to know her clients at a personal level and championing their fight. She is undeniably dedicated to providing her clients with the representation they deserve in their immigration matters.
